Teri laag aisi laagi, Rain saari saari jaagi
Teri laag kaisi maahiya Tune hi ki manmaani, Ek bhi na meri maani
Aise kyun sataaya maahiya Kaise tujhko ye bataaye, Ke hum jee nahi paaye Kaise tujhko ye bataaye, Haan hum jee nahi paaye
Jaan leti thi teri meri dooriyaan Main teri ho gaiyaan, haan
Main teri ho gaiyaan...
Main teri ho gaiyaan...
'Dil ek honge to dhadkan ek hogi, Aur agar bicchad gaye, toh niyati koi nhi palat skta.'
(When two hearts collide, they share the same heartbeat. But if they are separated, no one can alter destiny.)
The words echoed in Manyata Ji's mind making her restless. She was pacing around the room trying to brush off the thought from her mind.
"Mujhe bohot darr lag rha hai Ujjawal ji. She is not coming out of her room. It's been hours" she turned to face her husband.
(I am scared)
"I tried knocking, calling her out but pin drop silence is what always returns. She is not coming out, not responding, not even crying."
Ujjawal ji held her arms.
"Kuch nhi hoga Manu" he said calmly "Arsa lag jaata hai zakhmon ko bharne mein. Usse toh abhi kuch he ghante hue hai"
(Nothing will happen to her Manu. It takes ages for wounds like these to heal. And it's only been few hours for her)
Meanwhile upstairs, the room was dark.
The heavy curtains were drawn forbidding any light to enter the room.
The silence in the room was suffocating.
The room, that used to stay lively because of the person living in was now like a messy shell.
Crumpled bedsheet, torn pages, shattered glass and endless memories were scattered all around the room
And in the middle of all of it was her.
Trinika.
She was curled up on the floor - shattered, fragile, yet breathing.
The tears refused to stop flowing from her pearl-like eyes, leaving dried stains on her face.
The girl who used to light up the house with her laughter, who would dramatically tell every emotion to her family was lying silently on the floor today, in the darkness of the room - pleading for the pain to end.
She had spent days like this, hoping that everything would get better, that the wounds would heal. But all her hopes were shattered as every day, her wounds were scraped off again and again until she felt nothing. Just pure numbness.
Today, she was torn away from the only string that had been the source of her happiness.
"Ladne ke khatir he thodi der aur ruk jaate, toh shayad aankhon ko do ghadi aur sukh mil jaata."
(You should have stayed for a little longer, even if it meant to be for a fight, maybe then my eyes could have found peace for a moment longer)
Her voice came out in a soft whisper - broken, exhausted.
Without lifting her head, she picked up the red dupatta from the floor beside her.
It was a beautiful net dupatta, adorned with heavy borders from all sides. It wasn't just a dupatta. It was a veil - a veil that now stood before him and her.
"Uski zindagi ke tamashe suljhane gyi thi..." she said pushing herself up from the floor to sit. A bitter laugh escaped her mouth "Khud ka tamasha banake aa gyi"
(I went to fix up the mess of his life....and ended up becoming the mess)
Her eyes drifted towards the bedside table, where a small bottle of some pills. She then looked towards the dupatta flowing down her hand.
As she made up her mind and tried to get up from the floor a sharp pain hit her lower back. Before she could process that, her head spun and her vision blurred for a few seconds.
But all this was nothing compared to the pain she was carrying in her heart.
She steadied herself and took slow steps towards the nightstand, picking up the bottle.
"How painful can it be?" she whispered to herself and scoffed "Not worse than whatever I am experiencing now."
And with that, she had made up her mind to do what she thought was better than all of this.
